IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT'SSS FRIIIIIIIIIIDAAAAAAAAY

A local weatherman used to do that every Friday (David Haynes, R.I.P), and it feels good to hear and say sometimes. So from here on out, I'm going to try to put up getting ready for the weekend mixes. This mix for this week is from DJ Soulstar, and I will say it's a nice one for my house fans. Enjoy!!

I think I have officially

Stopped watching Style channel! WTHeck??? I used to follow fashion, but now that I am a wife who shares the cable with the hubby I have truly been out of the loop. I feel like Charlie Brown kicking the football and missing for some reason. I vow that for this Fashion Week my tail is going to WATCH @ least 3 reports on Fashion Week! lol
P.S. This is going to happen in between True Blood and my homework....and being a Mommy.

So is Navy the new black for this season?

I'm all for black's confused sibling, but can you really replace a classic? I will accept it as a stand in, but never will that step child replace my black! lol
Here are some pieces that could be alternates for me.

$108 can be found @ igigi.com

$29 can be bought at Ashley Stewart

Dickies that can be purchased at Torrid for $48

of course I couldn't forget the shoes...also can be purchased at Torrid for $32.

Make sure you choose the right accents/accessories (gold bangles, pewter neckclaces, or silver hoops) just to keep it simple.

If looks like a duck, quack like a duck is it a dog?

Okay I have been avoiding the whole Caster Semenya controversy, but that was because I wanted to actually hear the test results. I'm all for one who is about it's a person's business about their sexuality, but from every angle I thought she was a dude (probably a lot of people did). According to the test results that were released, she has both female and male characteristics (read: hormones), and that she did not have ovaries or a uterus. So, ladies and gentlemen there you have it...or do you? I'm confused, but hey if Winnie Mandela wants to vouch for the lady then so be it.

What do you guys think?

It's the summer officially this weekend....

I know boooooooooooo! Time to put away the dewey fresh from the pool look, to prepping our skin for the elements of dry air. Oh how my skin hates the fall time, and I mean hates it! I have psoriasis and Seborrhoeic dermatitis, so I have to do a really moisture happy regimen. I'll just give you guys the basics, at least for the fall.

  1. Always moisturize your skin. There's nothing like a flaky base that can wreck havoc on your foundation application. It doesn't matter your skin type because there are so many out here for everyone. Also please make sure that it has a SPF that covers UVA/UVB rays.
  2. Do not over wash your face, if you wash your face at night just rinse your face with water in the morning. The only excuse is if somebody wrote you a prescription saying you had to wash your twice a day.
  3. Drink your water! It's free and you also flush out toxins.
  4. We're not only talking about the skin on your face, but your body as well. Since the weather will start to get a little dry (unless you're in New England where summer ends in late September), you will need to add some "umph!" to your body wash.

There are more tips, but these are the basics....ciao bellas!

Why are some people so anti-generic?

I have noticed that when I recommend generic brands, I get the usual scoff or nose in the air. I'm like umm hello, saving you money here, say thank you at least. I remember when a cousin was asking for help with some products for straightening her hair, and all I saw were recommendations for name brands (i.e. Chi/Farouk). So, I told her well she could find cheaper versions, using GVP (generic value products) because they work just as well and she could be able to remain in budget. I think I could feel the frowns, scoffs, and hear the "oh hell no" just by some of the responses that came after my reply. It was like a B.A.M.N. project to make sure that my cousin wasn't being "frugal" when it came to her hair. I will openly admit my hair obsession, I have been obsessed since I sat in the hair dresser's chair at the age of 4, but I have been to the point of going broke. That was until I said why am I paying full price when there are equally good products that are cheaper? I try to share this philosophy with others, but it was always about the label (and price). Case in point, I will use L'Oreal H.I.P. products because they act the same as M.A.C.. I get the same type of quality, and I feel like I'm doing L'Oreal a one up since they own Lancome (Estee Lauder's competition). Oh and yeah H.I.P. products are usually on good sales! *this is not to say that L'Oreal is generic in any shape or form...far from it!*

Beauty is pain, but you don't always have to feel that pain in your pocket! Buy generic believe me most of the time you're still helping out a major company.
